Cancellation and Refund Policy

Last Updated: April 1st, 2025

This Cancellation and Refund Policy ("Policy") forms part of the BOOKD User Agreement. By using BOOKD, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.

We aim to provide a transparent and reliable booking experience. Cancellations impact both Hosts and Guests, so we maintain clear guidelines to balance flexibility and fairness. We may update this Policy at any time. The version in effect when the Booking was made or modified will apply.

Cancellation Policy Options

Hosts choose a cancellation policy when listing their Space. The Guest's refund eligibility depends on the policy selected at the time of Booking.

Host-Specific Custom Policies

Some Hosts may have Custom Cancellation Policies. These policies:

  • Must be clearly shown on the Space Listing,
  • Must be pre-approved by BOOKD
  • They are binding once a Guest books the Space.

When a Host's Custom Policy applies, it overrides the default cancellation options.

Official Cancellations

Cancellations must be confirmed by BOOKD via email. Chat messages or phone calls alone are not sufficient.

Dispute

If a valid dispute is reported against the user, the user's future access to BOOKD's services may be suspended until the dispute is resolved.

Host Payout Adjustments

Host payouts are adjusted based on the cancellation policy.

Taxes

Refunded amounts include refunded taxes. Non-refundable portions remain subject to tax submission.

Property Host or Vendor Cancellations

If a Host or Vendor cancels a confirmed Booking:

  • Guests receive a full refund (including Fees),
  • Property Hosts forfeit payout.

Property Hosts or Vendors may face penalties or account restrictions.

Unexcused Host Cancellations

Hosts cancelling without a valid cause may face:

  • Guest displacement costs,
  • A fine (greater of ₹8,000 or 30% of Booking Value),
  • Delisting of Spaces,
  • Suspension of Host privileges.

Excused Cancellations

BOOKD may approve Excused Cancellations in cases of:

  • Death, serious illness, or injury,
  • Natural disasters,
  • Government restrictions,
  • Urgent property safety issues.

Proof may be requested to approve an Excused Cancellation.

BOOKD-Initiated Cancellations

BOOKD may cancel a Booking in situations including:

  • Safety concerns,
  • Unauthorised activities,
  • Legal, insurance, or compliance issues,
  • Platform policy violations.

Refunds and payouts will be determined case-by-case basis.

Add-Ons

Add-ons refer to supplementary services or items offered in conjunction with a booking, such as equipment rentals, additional amenities, or special arrangements.

Add-ons adhere to the same cancellation terms as the primary location booking. This means:

  • If a booking is canceled within the timeframe that allows for a full or partial refund, the same refund policy applies to the add-ons.
  • If a booking is canceled outside of the refundable period, add-ons are non-refundable.

Refund Timeline

Refunds to renters will only be processed upon a confirmed cancellation. Once a cancellation is acknowledged and approved, it may take up to 5-7 business days for the refunded amount to reflect in the renter’s source account, depending on the payment provider and banking institutions involved.

Important Note:

Please review the specific cancellation policy associated with your booking before finalising, to ensure you are aware of any potential refunds or charges in the event of a cancellation.
